One of the most exciting things during the entire wedding planning process is wedding dress shopping! This can be a daunting task for some gals, so I thought I would share some helpful shopping tips!
No one wants to try on a $10,000 wedding dress, fall in love with it, and then realize it’s not in their budget. Ugh talk about annoying!! Run the numbers and figure out how much you’re willing to spend on a dress before you even step foot in a store. Is someone gifting it to you? Are you waiting for a sample sale? Are you paying cash or charging it? Think about it and create a plan of action! Also think about whether or not you have to put down a deposit, too.
I believe the phrase “too many cooks in the kitchen” can be applied to this one! Some girls are blessed to have a lot of friends and women in their lives that want to share the experience with them. Let’s be honest…some family members have stronger opinions than others. Am I right?! Trying on wedding dresses can be emotional so I suggest that brides bring people that will lift them up and be a positive presence! Personally, I didn’t want a lot of people with me and I actually found MY wedding dress while I was just shopping with my Aunt and it was absolutely perfect. No added opinions or stress!
If you’re questioning it now, you’ll question it later. I think some girls convince themselves that they need to find a dress immediately otherwise they’re “weird” or being a “bridezilla.” FALSE! I went to four different bridal shops and tried on a TON of dresses and that is perfectly fine. If something doesn’t feel right, trust yourself and speak up!
I suggest brides start looking for their wedding dress about nine months prior to their wedding. That way, if your dress needs significant alterations you won’t feel stressed about the timeline. Also, it’s good to have start the shopping process early in case your body goes through any changes, too!
