To all you brides out there worried about your wedding dress getting dirty on your big day …. Let me fill you in on a little secret: IT WILL AND THAT’S OKAY!! Finding the perfect dress is a huge deal to most brides (you can read about my experience here) and women want to feel flawless on their wedding day. Girl, I get it! I was there. Buttttt, here are a few reasons why I think having a dirty wedding dress is a good thing:
You’re Willing to Go the Extra Mile For Portraits
I vividly remember kicking off my blush Badgley Mischka heels, holding my wedding dress up to my knees and climbing down a huge set of rocks to get to an awesome portrait location for Josh and I’s wedding photos. Was I crazy? Maybe. BUT I wasn’t scared about my dress getting a little “Earthy” because I knew it would be worth it. And ya know what? It 10000% was! The photos at that particular location are some of my absolute favorites!
Dirt Tells a Story
I love when my brides have FUN at their wedding!! If you’re constantly worried about keeping your dress perfect, you will not have fun at your reception. I’ve seen this happen and it makes me so sad!!! LADIES! Your wedding goes by within a blink of an eye, so make a point to dance and celebrate as much as you can … trust me, it’s worth it!! By the end of our wedding, the bottom half of my wedding dress was dirty, sandy and sweaty (haha!)… it was one of the best nights of my life and my dress surely showed it!
You Can Always Clean It Afterwards
My amazing mother-in-law got my dress and veil (which was hers!) professionally cleaned and put into a special box after our wedding. There are so many ways to preserve your dress, so don’t worry about sand, leaves, dirt, etc… you can always get it out later!
So, all you lovely brides reading this… enjoy your day and don’t stress about keeping your dress pristine :)
